Welcome to Eagles.

It is a pleasure to welcome your children to Eagles class.

Our class contains children from Year 1 and 2 and we are looking forward to an exciting year of learning.

Weekly Class Updates

Week commencing 21/02/22.

It has been lovely to welcome our Eagles back to school this week. It has been another busy week with lots of fun and exciting learning. We enjoyed den building sessions with Outdoor4all and showed that we are all able to work as a team. We also talked about different celebrations as we start our preparations for Easter. In history, we started our new topic by learning about Queen Elizabeth II and some significant events in her life. We have had a super start to our new term and I know we have some amazing learning to come! Well Done Eagles!

Week commencing 28/02/22.

It has been another busy week for all our Eagles. Our week started with some fun-filled trips to the woods where we built dens, created mud make-up and waded through the stream! We had great fun in art this week as we created some amazing line patterns based on the work of the artist Paul Klee using crayon, pencil and charcoal. We also discovered the various parts of a castle in our history learning and discovered why each part was important. On Thursday, we enjoyed dressing up and wearing pyjamas for World Book Day and shared our favourite books with our friends before we took part in Mrs Pollard's World Book Day Quiz! It has been another fabulous week for us all, well done Eagles!

Week commencing 07/03/22.

We have had another busy week in Eagles, and it has been lovely to see everyone enjoying their learning. We enjoyed more fun in the woods this week and discovered how to use a hammock and some of us used a metal detector to search for treasure. In history, we continued our learning about castles and thought carefully about why and where they were built. In our RE learning we looked at Paschal candles and thought carefully about the different symbols on them. Thank you for another super week everyone! 

Week commencing 14/03/22.

What an exciting week we have enjoyed in Eagles! Science week got off to a great start with our trip to Imagine That where we all had a wonderful time exploring! We made slime and pretend snow and explored shadows in a dark room, it was a fabulous day out. Our learning continued as we considered what would be need to survive on Mars. After a little research, we designed our own animal that would be adapted life on Mars. It has been a super week of learning, well done Eagles!

week commencing 21/03/22.

All our Eagles have continued to work hard this week, really trying to be the best they can be every day!
This week we have continued to have fun in the woods with Outdoors4all and some of us even sampled some delicious wild garlic! In Art, we used 2D shapes and different pastels to create our own version of The Castle and the Sun by Paul Klee. This week we visited church to learn all about Easter by talking to Reverend Tracy and discovering what happens at St Leonard's Church at Easter. It has been a super week with some amazing learning, well done everyone!

Week commencing 28/03/22.

What a fabulous end to our learning this week! All the Eagles have worked incredibly hard in all our lessons this week and I am so proud of all of them. We completed our science learning by discovering how to classify animals and used our learning this term to answer the big question, 'Are all animals the same?' We had great fun being Easter bunnies as we took part in the hop, skip and jump afternoon with our friends in Falcons and Doves. Even though it was cold, we loved looking for Easter eggs in the woods. It has been a busy term full of smiles, laughter and amazing learning. I am looking forward to our next term together! Have a lovely Easter break everyone!

Week commencing 18/04/22.

It has been lovely to see all our Eagles back at school after the Easter break and I have enjoyed hearing all about their time off. This week we have started to learn about plants and made some observations of different seeds and bulbs before we planted our own tomato seeds and onion bulbs. We cannot wait to see what happens over the next few weeks! In geography, we started a new unit all about Kenya in Africa. We used globs and maps to find out where it is and discovered where the equator is. It has been a super week and I am looking forward to watching the children enjoy their learning again this term.

Week commencing 25/04/22.

This week has gone so fast because we have been so busy in Eagles! We started the week by listening to the story about when Jesus ascended into heaven and we thought carefully about how it feels to say goodbye to someone. we also continued our learning about Kenya by discovering what the weather is like and comparing it to the weather we have in the UK. In science, we were excited to see our seeds starting to grow and we used magnifying glasses to make observations of the inside of different fruits so we could create detailed drawings of them. We finished our week with a special treat as were are all proud to have completed our class point chart! An amazing week for all the Eagles, well done everyone!

Week commencing 02/05/22.

We have enjoyed another week of exciting lessons this week in Eagles. We were able to explain where in the Kenya is and enjoyed discovering different features of the country. In science we thought carefully about what plants need to grow and set up an investigation to find out if it is possible to water a plant too much! In DT we talked about fruits and vegetables and where we would find them on a plant. It has been such a busy week! Well done Eagles. 

Week commencing 09/05/22.

This week has flown by, so we must have been having fun in Eagles! We have had a great time revisiting 'George's Marvellous Medicine' in English and have produced some amazing pieces of writing including a character description, a recipe and a narrative! We have also been working hard to develop our arithmetic skills and I am so proud of everyone's effort this week. In PE, we have continued to develop our under arm throwing technique used bats to strike the ball. A super week, I am proud of you all!

Week commencing 06/05/22.

Our Eagles have worked incredibly hard this week and I am so proud of all of them. Year 2 have shown courage and determination as they completed their tests, and they have all aimed to be the best they can be. Year 1 have persevered with learning all their phonics sounds and it has been wonderful to hear them reading real and alien words with more confidence! In RE this week, we discussed what we thought heaven was like and we drew pictures and labelled the various features. Our science learning has involved looking at the life cycle of plants and we discovered some very tricky new vocabulary. Some of our Eagles had the opportunity to dress up this week as we continued our learning about Kenya and explored the Maasai Mara national park. It was interesting to compare our lives in Langho with the lives of the Maasai villagers. It has been a super week with lots of fantastic learning. Well done Eagles!
